Marlin GTX enables products to be categorised into product groups for classification, reporting and pricing.
Product Reporting Levels:
- Product Departments: Highest-level summary of stock sales
- Product Supergroups: Broad groupings such as manufacturer
- Product Groups: Categories of products within a department
- Individual Products: Detailed reporting for a single product
Product groups define how products are grouped for reporting and inventory.
Product supergroups sit above product groups and provide broader categorisation.
Each product group belongs to a department and can include defaults for reporting and pricing.
Markup Sets can be assigned at the product group level for consistent pricing rules.
Product groups are mandatory and must be assigned to every product.
Product Supergroups
Product supergroups define higher-level categories that product groups belong to.
They are typically aligned to business areas such as tyres, accessories, labour charges or other sales categories.
Each product group must be assigned to a product supergroup.
Product supergroups can be viewed and edited by selecting System > System Files > Products > Product Supergroups from the menu bar.

Adding Product Supergroups
System > System Files > Products > Product Supergroups
New product supergroups can be added by clicking on the Add button at the top of the Supergroup Maintenance window.

The Add Supergroup window will open.

In the Details tab:

Product supergroup codes cannot be changed once they are added.
