Marlin GTX enables different access modes to be displayed on the Marlin startup screen, controlling whether the system is operational or restricted.
The system's current access mode is displayed on the Marlin startup screen above where you enter your password.
Active
This is the normal Access Mode for an operational Marlin system.
All functionality is available.
Read Only
If you go to start Marlin GTX and it reports that Access Mode is READ ONLY, you will be able to perform queries on the data but not enter any transactions.
This situation is normal in the following situations:
- On run down systems (after a company change over the former owner will have a specified number of months during which they can enter transactions to finalise the business, then the system will go into READ ONLY mode)
- On Marlin datasets from previous years (these are started using different icons or Start menu entries than your current Marlin)
Read Only on One Machine
It will be due to someone inadvertently setting the date incorrectly in Windows on that machine.
View the date in the bottom right hand corner of your screen on the Windows tool tray.
If incorrect, click on it and reset the date correctly.
Restart Marlin on that machine and before entering your password you should see that the Access Mode has returned to ACTIVE.
Read Only on All Machines
Check the Windows date on the master PC and reset if incorrect.
Check the Marlin License Expiry date (displayed on the Marlin startup screen before you enter your password) and contact Megabus if it has expired.
Check that Megalink is running.
Activation Code Required
Most customers run Megalink on their master PC (User 1).
If Megalink is running you will see the word Megalink on a grey background on the status bar at the bottom of Marlin.
If it is not running it will be shown on a red background.
If Megalink has not run for 30 days, Marlin will go into READ ONLY mode on all machines until Megalink is started or Megabus provides an Activation Code.
To start Megalink, double-click on the Megalink icon on the Windows desktop on your Master PC (User 1) and then enter the password.
Within a minute or so, the Megalink indicator will show on a grey background once more and Marlin will return to ACTIVE mode.
