Marlin GTX enables automatic downloading and installation of updates, with optional manual methods available if required.
Downloading Updates
The system will normally do this for you automatically:
Each time you start Marlin GTX it looks to see whether an update is available.
If so, it automatically downloads it in the background while you work (you will not be aware of it).
The download time will depend upon the speed of your internet connection.
If you close Marlin GTX before the download is finished, when you next start Marlin GTX the download will continue from where it left off.
Installing Updates
Ensure Marlin GTX is fully closed down on all PCs (after running your End of Day is a good time).
Start Marlin GTX on the Master PC and a prompt will pop up to advise you that an update is ready for installation.
Click on YES to install the update.
Once the update is complete (generally less than a couple of minutes), start Marlin GTX as normal.
Not Getting Update Prompts
Check here to confirm what version you are on and what updates are available.
If an update is available but you are not being prompted to install it when you start Marlin GTX:
- Restart Marlin GTX and leave it running
- You can work in Marlin GTX or have it minimised and work in other programs
- Check in Reminders after 30 minutes to see whether there is a Reminder advising that an update is available to install
If no luck after 30 minutes, please contact Megabus for assistance.
Manualy Downloading Updates
If the normal automatic download and popup prompt are working, this should not be necessary.
Download Updates
From the Marlin GTX menu, select Tools > Program Updates > Download Updates & Patches from SupportWeb.
Enter your SupportWeb username/password, tick the 'Remember login details' checkbox and then click on the Login button.
If you wish to control the download of updates then do not click on the 'Remember login details' checkbox and do not share the password with other staff.
If any updates are available they will be listed.
Click on the update to select it, then click on the Download button to start the download.
Depending on your internet connection speed and the size of the update, this may take up to 15 minutes or so to download but you can continue working in Marlin GTX or other programs during the download.
Install Updates
Once the download indicates that it has completed you can install it in any of three different ways:
- Restart Marlin GTX and respond YES to the prompt to install the update
- Open Reminders and double-click on the Reminder that says "Marlin GTX version x.x.x is available for installation"
- From the Marlin GTX menu, select Tools > Program Updates > Install Marlin Update (or Install Marlin Patch) as appropriate
The updates generally only take a minute or two to install and you then start Marlin GTX as normal.
