Following the Review of Merchant Card Payment Costs and Surcharging, the Reserve Bank of Australia has ruled that surcharges on debit card and credit card payments will no longer be permitted from 1 October 2026.

This new ruling applies to all card types, including EFTPOS, Mastercard, Visa, American Express and any other card payment methods.
:::(Warning) (Warning)
Failure to disable surcharges may result in your merchant agreement being terminated by your bank or payment provider, preventing you from accepting card payments.

Disabling Surcharges

- Select System > System Files > Banking and Payments > Payment Types from the menu bar

- Open the relevant payment type(s) in Edit mode

- Set the Surcharge field to 0.00

- Repeat for all card payment types

Previous surcharges can then be incorporated into individual product prices, if required.
