Article summary

Marlin Tyre and Mechanical Workshop Software allows the columns of most module search lists to be configured to help streamline workshop operations.

Custom column sets can be created for individual modules and applied for different users across an entire company.

Multiple column sets can also be created for the same module, and then switched between by managing column sets.

Configuring Columns

Right-click on the column toolbar and select Configure Columns (if available).

The Column Set pop-up window will open, showing a list of the current columns.

Configuring the columns will create a new column set, which can be applied to the current module.

The Name textbox at the top can be used to rename the column set, if desired.

By default, the Company Default checkbox below will be ticked.

  • Leaving the Company Default checkbox ticked will apply the new column set for all users within the company who have not set their own custom column sets.
  • To only apply the column configuration for the current user, untick the Company Default checkbox.

Below is the Columns list, which can be used to add, remove and organise columns.

The order of columns can be changed by dragging and dropping them into different positions in the list.

The sort priority of the columns can be specified using the Sort Direction and Sort Priority columns.

The width of a column can be manually set by entering a pixel value in the Width cell.

Tip

Column widths can be quickly configured and saved by resizing in the list itself, by dragging the line between two column headings, then opening the Configure Columns by right clicking on the column headings and click Save to make the newly sized columns be remembered

Adding Columns to Column Sets

To the top right of the Columns list, click on the Add action button.

The Add Columns pop-up window will open, showing a list of columns that can be added to the column set.

To add a column to the column set, tick the checkbox to its left.

Multiple columns can be added at once.

Once all desired columns have been selected, click the Ok button at the bottom-left to add them to the column set and return to the Column Set window.

Deleting Columns from Column Sets

In the Columns list, select the column to delete and then click on the Delete action button to the top right.

The Delete pop-up window will open asking to confirm the deletion.

To confirm the deletion and return to the Column Set window.

Saving Column Sets

To apply the column configuration immediately but not permanently, click on the Ok button at the bottom right of the Column Set window.

Closing and reopening the module will revert back to the default column set.

Alternatively, to save the new column set as the ongoing default for the module, click the Save button at the bottom right of the Column Set window.

Otherwise, to save a copy of the column set, rename the column set using the Name textbox at the top of the Column Set window and then click the Save As button at the bottom right.

Managing Column Sets

Right-click on the column toolbar and select Manage Column Sets (if available).

The Manage Column Sets pop-up window will open, showing a list of available column sets for the current module.

To make a column set the default for the current module, tick the relevant checkbox in the Default column.

Column sets can be configured as usual by clicking on the Edit button in the relevant Edit cell, which will open the Column Set pop-up window.
