# Looking Up Vehicles

{{variable.GTX Bold}} enables you to quickly search for customer vehicles using registration number, year, make, model, or owner information.

Looking up a customer's vehicle is one of the most common tasks you will perform.

You can search by registration number, year and make, or the owner's name.

## Searching from the Business Planner

When you start an enquiry, booking, quote, or order from the Business Planner, the following methods can be used to find the vehicle.

### Searching by License Number

Searching with the license number is the most precise method of finding a vehicle.

**To search with the registration number:**

* Type the registration number and press the Tab key  
* Update the state if needed and press the Tab key  
* The Select an Owner for Registration Number screen appears  
* Select the owner listed (if any), add a new owner, or assign an additional owner  
* The owner and vehicle are added to the enquiry or booking screen

You can make your selection from a list of vehicles instead.

To open the list, type the license number and click the search icon.

### Searching by Year and Make

The most basic vehicle information can get you started with finding the vehicle you need.

**To search by year and make:**

* Click Search  
* Click the Search for Existing Vehicle tab  
* Type the year, make, or both and click Refresh Search  
* Select the vehicle from the search results and click Select  
* The owner and vehicle are added to the enquiry or booking screen  

### Searching by Existing Owner

If you cannot see the registration number on a vehicle that is in your parking lot, you can use the owner's name to find it.

**To search with an existing owner's name:**

* Click Search  
* The Search for Existing Owner tab appears  
* Type the customer's name, company name, mobile phone number, or code (or a combination of these) and click Refresh Search  
* Select the owner from the search results and click Select  
* The owner and vehicle are added to the enquiry or booking screen  

## Searching from the Invoicing Module

When you do a quote, work order, invoice, or credit note, you can search for the vehicle by registration number.

**To search by registration number:**

* Type the registration number and press the Tab key  
* Update the state if needed and press the Tab key  
* The Select an Owner for Registration Number screen appears  
* Select the owner listed (if any), add a new owner, or assign an additional owner  
* The selected owner is added to the AutoTracker  
* Update the owner information if needed and click Next  
* The vehicle information appears  
* Update the vehicle information if needed  
* If you made changes to the owner or vehicle, click Save  
* Otherwise, click Cancel
