# Finalising Attendance

**Marlin GTX** enables finalised attendance events to be shared with [linked HR systems](/gtx/docs/linking-attendance-to-hr).

Finalising attendance events makes them **appear in inked HR systems** and **prevents any further editing**.

## Finalising Attendance Events

#### Main > Staff > Attendance Maintenance

**To finalise attendance events:**

- Click on the **Finalise Attendance Events** button at the top of the attendance list.

The **Finalise Attendance Events** pop-up will open:

- Enter the **date range** you want to finalise (top-left)
- Click **Calculate** to show updated records for that date range (top-left)
- **Select employees** from the list on the left to review their records
  - [Attendance notes](/gtx/docs/attendance-notes) can still be added at this stage, if necessary

To **preview the attendance report:**

- Click **Generate Report** (bottom-right):
  - Review the report and make any necessary adjustments
  - The Finalise button will become active (bottom-right)
- Click **Finalise**
- Click **Yes** in the pop-up to confirm the finalisation

**Finalised attendance events are indicated by:**

- A **padlock icon** in the List view.
- A **patterned fill** in the Planner view

          Warning

Finalised attendance entries **cannot be unlocked** and **cannot be cancelled**.

If you need to **make changes** to finalised events:

- You can always [add extra hours](https://help.megabus.com.au/gtx/docs/attendance-maintenance#editing-attendance-entries) to a staff members' records (but cannot reduce)
- Add an [attendance note](/gtx/docs/attendance-notes) asking the payroll officer to make the necessary changes in HR.

          Note

Notes can be recorded against individual attendance events, using [attendance notes](/gtx/docs/attendance-notes), which can also be viewed in HR. refer to the Attendance Summary Notes guide.
