# Lookup Lists

{{variable.Marlin bold}} uses editable lookup lists to manage certain variables within the Marlin system.

Lookup lists determine the options available when indicating the **Work Done**, or when selecting **Defect Reasons** on a [warranty claim](/docs/warranty-claims) or **Credit Note Reasons** on a [customer](/docs/customer-credit-notes) or [supplier credit note](/docs/supplier-credits).

Lookup lists can be viewed and edited by selecting **System > Text Lists > Lookup Lists** from the menu bar.

The Lookup lists module will open on the **Search** window, showing a list of look up lists within the Marlin system.

## Editing Lookup Lists
#### System > Text Lists > Lookup Lists

Each lookup list can be edited by selecting it in the Lookup Lists Search list and clicking on the **Edit** button to the top-right of the module window.

The lookup list window will open on the **Details** tab, showing a list of options contained within the lookup list.

The Name of the selected lookup list is shown in the **General** section at the top and cannot be edited.

The options available for the lookup list are show in the **Lookup Lists** list at the bottom.

### Adding Options to Lookup Lists
#### System > Text Lists > Lookup Lists > [Lookup List] > Details

To add an option to a lookup list, click on the **Add** action button to the top-right of the **Lookup Lists** list at the bottom of its Details tab (or click in the next empty **Name** cell).

In the textbox that appears in the next empty **Name** cell, enter the name of the new option.

Leave the **Active** checkbox ticked to enable the option within the lookup list.


### Disabling Lookup List Options
#### System > Text Lists > Lookup Lists > [Lookup List] > Details

Lookup list options can be disabled by either unticking the relevant **Active** checkbox in the **Lookup Lists** list at the bottom of its Details tab, or by selecting them and clicking on the **Delete** action button to the top-right.

Inactive lookup list options can be viewed by changing the filter at the top-right of the **Lookup List** list to **All**.

Inactive options can be reenabled by ticking the relevant **Active** checkbox.

To save the lookup list options and return to the Search window, click on the **Save** action button to the top right of the module window.
