# Firebase

**Marlin Tyre and Mechanical Workshop Software**'s integration with Firebase enables seamless communication between businesses and customers.

[Firebase](https://firebase.google.com/) is a Google-backed app development platform.

Integration with Firebase is required to send [Customer Portal](/workshop/docs/customer-portal) links, to add [attachments](/workshop/docs/workshop-connect-attachments) from both the Marlin Tyre and Mechanical Workshop Software desktop client and the [Marlin mobile app](/workshop/docs/workshop-connect-set-up), as well as to send [push notifications](/workshop/docs/workshop-connect-comments#Marlin-Workshop-Connect-Notifications) to the technician's device from the Marlin app.
