Marlin Tyre and Mechanical Workshop Software can be downloaded and installed onto compatible computers from anywhere with an internet connection.

When your Marlin system is created you will be sent a company-specific URL, which can be used to download your Marlin system onto any compatible computer.

Your company URL can also be viewed and copied by selecting Help > About Marlin from the menu bar.

Opening the company URL will take you to the Marlin Launchpad, which contains links and instructions for installing Marlin.

To access the Launchpad, log in with your normal Marlin user credentials, which will originally be sent to you by Megabus.

Marlin uses OpenWebStart's open source implementation of the Java Web Start technology to manage its cloud-based infrastructure.

For computers that have not had Marlin previously installed, follow the instructions for New Workstation/PC to install OpenWebStart first.

For computers that have had Marlin previously installed, follow the instructions for Existing Workstation/PC to skip to installing Marlin.

Note

Once installed, your company URL can be quickly accessed by selecting Help > About Marlin from the menu bar, and can be used to install Marlin on other computers as required.

Installing OpenWebStart

Download the appropriate installer from the OpenWebStart downloads page.

Once the installer is downloaded, use it install OpenWebStart using the default options.

Tip

For most recent Windows computers select the OpenWebStart_windows-x64_1_10_1.exe option.

Installing the Marlin Client

In the Marlin Launchpad window, click on the Install Marlin Blue Client link.

Depending on your browser you may be prompted to save the file.

Once the client is downloaded, open it.

The Open Web Start application will start, which will download and install the latest versions of java and Marlin.

Once installed, use the start menu or desktop icons to open Marlin.

Updating Marlin

No action needs to be taken to update Marlin to the latest version.

OpenWebStart will check for updates each time Marlin is opened, and will automatically install OpenWebStart, Java and Marlin updates as required.
