# Contact Methods

**Marlin Tyre and Mechanical Workshop Software** enables various contact methods to be added and associated with contacts.

To view and edit contact methods, select **System > Contacts > Contact Methods** from the menu bar.

The Contact Methods module will open on the **Search** window, showing a list of active contact methods.

Once added details for individual contact details can be added to [Customers](/docs/contact-master-files) and [Contacts](/docs/contact-master-files#adding-contact-methods) using the **Contact Methods** list in the Details tab of their master file.

### Adding Contact Methods

#### System > Contacts > Methods

To add a new contact method, click on the **Add** action button to the top right of the Contact Methods Search list.

The contact method window will open on the **Details** tab, containing a form for adding a new contact method.

In the **Name** textbox, enter a name for the new contact method as it will appear within the Marlin system.

Use the **Type** drop-down to select whether the contact method is **Email**, **Mobile**, **Phone** or **Other**.

If desired, the expected values for the contact method can be edited by entering wildcard characters in the **Edit Mask** textbox.

Leave the **Active** checkbox ticked to enable the new contact method within the Marlin system.

To save the new contact method and return to the Search list, click on the **Save** action button to the top right of the module window.
